CAN
I BUY PARTS?
We have the facilities
to obtain any air conditioning part at short notice
and at a reasonable price.
Due
to their bulk purchase ability, the price you pay
will be very competitive and delivery can be made
to our premises the next morning.
Our
qualified fitters can fit the part or
carry out any repair
required.
WHAT
A SERVICE INVOLVES
1. Initial system testing - Vent temperatures and
gauge pressures are checked against recommended levels. A refrigerant identifier
is used at this stage to verify system content. 2. Recovery of system
refrigerant This is recovered and weighed 3. Checking of system and
related components. This includes drive belts, pipes and hoses, evaporator
drain tube, pollen filter, condenser and electrics. 4. Check heater and
control flap operations 5. Check compressor oil level and replace drier
(Bi annual service only) 6. System evacuation - A vacuum is
applied to remove moisture and air which can damage the system. 7.
Charging - Recommended gas and oil charges are added following
thorough leak checking.
WHY
DO I NEED A SERVICE?
By spending a small amount on an annual or
bi-annual basis you are limiting the risk of having to find a major
fault.
Gas leaks naturally from all systems at 10 - 15% per annum. If
this is left untreated, fuel economy is affected when the system is run. The
compressor (which uses fuel) has to work harder to generate the correct
temperatures when the gas level is low. This costs you money as it uses more
fuel. In addition, the lower the gas level, the greater the likelihood of
component failure.
HOW
DOES IT WORK?
The whole
system is a sealed circuit of tubes containing a gas (vapour) known as a
‘refrigerant’. Controlled pressure changes within the system facilitate the
evaporation and condensation of the refrigerant. The evaporation process uses
latent heat (to change the refrigerant from liquid to gas). This is taken by
heat transfer from the air entering the vehicle. The result is that the air is
cooled.
